Live Art School Visit
I really enjoyed doing a Live Art for the fifth graders at summit Elem. They were very involved with all their questions as they watched me do the six foot by four foot pastel in thirty minutes.
Thanks to all the kids for being such a great audience.

Live Worship Art
As an Artist, most of my creating is done alone. The trill of doing Live Art on stage accompanied by music has opened a door to a whole new way of expressing myself, and connecting with the viewers.
As the audience watches the pastel come to life in thirty minutes , they feel the emotion of the music match the strokes on the 6' X 4' paper. Each person feels intrinsically connected to the image they watched unfold before their eyes.

Jesus and Child
But Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, Luke 18:16

Live Worship Art is a unique way to visually communicate the amazing love of God without words.
This image of Christ's last breath on the cross is captured in 30 minutes. The mood is represented in the simplicity of black, white and grey pastels. The finished image is 4 feet by 6 feet.

The red paint, representing blood, is added in the last 10 minutes. The audience writes their personal sins on their palm. They are then given the opportunity to go up to the painting to wipe their fingers in the red paint to cover the sin on the palm of their hand.

Interacting with the live art on Good Friday left me in silence. I was struck down by the evolution of that scream and it's agonizing dimensions. It all came alive as Lois was painting. The blood dripping down his head, off his lips. It splattered off her painting, literally onto the floor of the room. Jesus' death and blood literally spilled out of history, into the room, on the floor...then, onto our hands as we walked by and touched the drips.
That night, Lois spoke an ancient message in a new way. Her gift communicated something that was meant it to be spoken to so many. Jesus put his blood down in that space, through her, and, to me, it felt like a sacred Word from God. Powerful, sacred art.

The face of a man takes shape, larger than life, across the room in harmony with worship music. It comes into sharper focus--a crown of thorns, eyes tightly shut against the pain, head thrown back and mount open in agony.
The music swells around you and you feel at any moment he'll cry out, "My God, my God--why have you forsaken me?"
And then--when the expression of pain is complete--comes the blood, running down into his eyes, his hair, his beard.
You are invited to consider your personal sins that put him there, writing them on the palm of your hand. Then you walk up to that image of your Savior, taking some of His blood shed for you, and wipe that blood over those words written on your palm.
Covering them. Obliterating them with love. How powerful is the blood of Christ.
